Five of the schools in Engineering are in the top 10 in the country in specialty rankings, including a No. 1 ranking for Agricultural and Biological Engineering. This is their fourth consecutive No. 1 ranking and they are also ranked No. 1 by U.S. News & World Report in the undergraduate rankings. Aeronautics and Astronautics ranked sixth; Civil Engineering ranked sixth, tied with Massachusetts Institute of Technology; Mechanical Engineering ranked ninth, tied with Cornell University; and Electrical Engineering ranked 10th, tied with Princeton University.

Aeronautics and Astronautics: 6th
Agricultural and Biological Engineering: 1st
Biomedical Engineering: 23rd tied with U of Minnesota, U Virginia and U Wisconsin-Madison
Chemical Engineering: 14th tied with Carnegie Mellon and Northwestern
Civil Engineering: 6th tied with MIT
Electrical Engineering: 10th tied with Princeton
Environmental and Ecological Engineering: 19th tied with Penn State and U of Minnesota
Materials Engineering: 14th tied with Carnegie Mellon
Mechanical Engineering: 9th tied with Cornell University
Nuclear Engineering: 11th tied with Oregon State
Leah Jamieson, The John A. Edwardson Dean of Engineering, says “the rankings reflect the collective efforts of everyone in the College. Engineering‘s research expenditures increased by 17% compared to last year, and was clearly a significant factor in moving up in the College-level rankings. This shines a light on the extraordinary efforts of the College of Engineering faculty and staff.”
