Register - EPICS - Purdue University

Registration happens in two phases, pre-registration and open registration.

• Pre-Registration for Fall 2026:  Survey will close on Mar. 25, 2026
• Open Registration for Fall 2026:  begins Apr. 27, 2026

Pre-registration will be handled through the EPICS office and the Registrar prior to batch scheduling. Students and advisors will NOT add EPICS to CRFs through Scheduling Assistant. Instead, your EPICS section will be placed on your CRF for you, so it can be optimized with your other courses, giving you the best chance of being assigned to the team that you prefer. In order to indicate the team you want to join for the upcoming semester, you will complete the Pre-Registration form at:

• Indianapolis Pre-Registration Survey
• West Lafayette Pre-Registration Survey

EPICS and the Registrar's office will add the course to your schedule according to the team you selected in the survey. The course will only be added to your CRF if you complete the pre-registration survey by the above date.

Open registration is done through myPurdue and scheduling assistant like all of your other courses with one significant difference: Each division of EPICS is a different team. Unlike most courses where the labs are all the same no matter what time they are scheduled, each lab division represents a different team. You can choose your team by finding the appropriate CRN via the CRN list at the bottom of this page.

• Before you register, it is important to become familiar with the EPICS teams to determine which teams best fit your interest and course of study. It is recommended that you identify at least five teams that you would like to participate on in case some of the teams do not fit in your schedule or are already full.
• If you are planning on registering for senior design, please email epics@purdue.edu first as prior program approval is required for senior design registration.
• When you register for EPICS during open registration, you will need to register for both the lab and the lecture portions of the class. The lab portion corresponds to your team, and it is scheduled for two hours each week. Please note the division of the team or teams that you are most interested in as you will need to register for that specific division/team when you register for EPICS in myPurdue.
• Once you know what teams you would like to participate on, the final step is to register for EPICS through your selected method by completing our EPICS pre-registration survey during Pre-Registration or using scheduling assistant during Open Enrollment. You will need two CRNs, one for lecture and one for the lab during open registration.

Three Easy Steps:

1. Identify a project: Students need to first choose a specific team to join. Current project listing can be found at senior design project listing.
2. Receive approval: After identifying a project, contact the EPICS senior design coordinator (Andrew Pierce: pierce1@purdue.edu) to get approval to register.
3. Register: Once approved, you will be able to register.
