Air Compressor Tank Safety

Background

  • Air compressor tanks contain a tremendous amount of stored energy when charged with compressed air.
  • If an air compressor tank erupts, bystanders can be killed or injured by the blast or by flying bits of the tank.

Tips

  • If unsure of an air tank's safety, don't use it until it has been pressure-tested by a professional.
  • Be sure to have a safety switch on the air compressor to shut off the pump when the pressure is built up.

Air Bubbles

Air bubbles and air compressor tanks contain a tremendous amount of stored energy when charged with compressed air. In case of an eruption, bystanders can be killed or injured by the blast or by flying bits of the tank. If you are unsure of an air tank, don't use it until it has been pressure tested by a professional. Be sure to have a safety switch on your air compressor to shut off the pump when the pressure is built up.
