Spacecraft Autonomy

Our research in Spacecraft Autonomy focuses on enabling spacecraft to operate, adapt, and make decisions independently in complex and uncertain environments. We develop algorithms for guidance, navigation, and control that allow vehicles to perform critical tasks such as trajectory correction and hazard avoidance without continuous human intervention. By integrating tools from control theory, optimization, and estimation, we create frameworks that balance safety, performance, and robustness. This work advances the capability of spacecraft to carry out long-duration, deep-space, and time-critical missions, paving the way for greater autonomy in exploration, science, and space operations.
