Minyoung Andrea-Philippus (Philip) Ra is a current Ph.D. student. He received his BS and MS degrees in Aeronautical and Astronautical Engineering at Purdue in 2022 and 2023, respectively. His Ph.D. is currently supported by NASA Space Technology Graduate Research Opportunities (NSTGRO) since Fall 2024, researching robust optimal control of spacecraft translational-rotational coupled motion (6DoF) under uncertainty.
In Fall 2023, he visited Professor Tsuda's Astrodynamics and Space Systems Laboratory and worked on 6DoF control for spacecraft rendezvous near asteroid under uncertainty via geometric sliding mode control.
In Spring 2024, he was supported by Air Force Office of Scientific Research, under Characterizing Highways and Automated Navigation in Cislunar Environment (CHANCE) project. During this research period, he worked on chance-constrained sensing-optimal path planning for safe angles-only autonomous navigation.
