ENGR 10301: Intro to Professional Practice

Engineering students in Indianapolis are required to enroll in a one-credit professional development course, ENGR 10301 (Intro to Engineering Professional Development). This course prepares students for work-integrated learning experiences by building essential professional skills and providing interactive insights from industry representatives. Through ENGR 103, students will:

  • Connect with fellow students, faculty and industry professionals
  • Transition a resume and cover letter from high school to college-level expectations
  • Develop a strong LinkedIn profile, elevator pitch and personal brand
  • Network with guest speakers and top employers
  • Receive mentorship from undergraduate teaching assistants who provide feedback, share knowledge and support career readiness

College of Engineering students will work with their academic advisor to enroll in ENGR 103 and begin developing the professional foundation needed for long-term success. The OPP teaching assistants and office hours are available on the Connect with our Students web page.

Professional Practice Ambassadors

Professional Practice Ambassadors (PPA) is the official student organization affiliated with the Office of Professional Practice (OPP). PPA is built on three pillars: mentorship, volunteering and social development of our members. PPA holds programs and events throughout the year, such as Co-op Networking Nights, ENGR 10301 Mentorship Program and social activities.

A large part of being in PPA is volunteering, spreading the co-op experience and working closely with OPP staff. PPA members often speak at OPP events and collaborate on upcoming projects.

If you are doing a co-op or internship at Purdue and want to find a community, join PPA in Indianapolis.
