Step One

CO-OP

  • Full-time, 3-5 work terms (fall, spring or summer).
  • One term must be during the fall/spring semester, and two terms must be with the same employer.

Intership

  • Generally one 10-12 week full-time work experience; time varies based on employer

Determine the correct registration process

Step two

Case 1: Multi-rotation Co-op

If the student receives a co-op/internship offer with two or more rotations (or a single session with the possibility of returning based on performance), register for the courses below in the following order:

  • ME 29199
  • ME 29299
  • ME 39399
  • ME 39Q99
  • ME 39599

Note: For other majors, replace "ME" with the respective major's acronym. For case 1 and 2, Indianapolis students are enrolling in Indianapolis specific sections (e.g. ME29199 is offered in Indianapolis and West Lafayette).


Case 2: Single-session internship

If the student receives an offer for one session (which may or may not convert into a co-op), register for the course below:

  • ME 39699

Note: For other majors, replace "ME" with the respective major's acronym. For case 1 and 2, Indianapolis students are enrolling in Indianapolis specific sections (e.g. ME29199 is offered in Indianapolis and West Lafayette).


Case 3: Part-time Co-op/ Learning While Working (LWW)

LWW allows students to work part-time during a semester while enrolled in classes. To receive a co-op certificate for this model, students must complete two full-time summer sessions and four part-time semesters at 10+ hours per week.

Register the full-time sessions below in the following order:

  • ENGR 26099
  • ENGR 36099

Register the part-time sessions in the following order:

  • ENGR 36199
  • ENGR 36299
  • ENGR Q6399
  • ENGR Q6Q99

Engineering and Science students should report their internship/co-op/research offer online, and a member of our team will guide them through the next steps.
