Tom Clement - Office of Professional Practice - Purdue University

Clement was posthumously inducted into the Hall of Fame. He was recognized as the first co-op student at Purdue University. 

After graduation, he worked at Ford Motor Company full time. He designed the 302-engine platform, developed coolant technologies and proposed and implemented an innovation of turbocharging for fuel economy, now known as EcoBoost.

After five semesters of industry experience while at Purdue, Clement wrote in his final work report, “In conclusion, I would like to say that my experience with the co-op program has been very enlightening. It is felt that a deeper feeling for engineering has been gained. I would recommend this program to anyone who is interested in learning both sides of the engineering profession.”
