Professor:

Xiulin Ruan, Associate Professor [Curriculum Vita]

 

Professor Ruan received his B.S. and M.S. in Engineering Thermophysics from Tsinghua University in 2000 and 2002, respectively. He received another M.S. in Electrical Engineering in 2006 and Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering in 2007 from the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor. He then joined Purdue as an assistant professor. He was promoted to associate professor with tenure in 2013. Dr. Ruan received the NSF CAREER Award in 2012. He was an Air Force Summer Faculty Fellow at the Wright Patterson Air Force Base at Dayton, Ohio in 2010 and 2011. He currently serves as an Editorial Board Member for Scientific Reports, a journal published by the Nature Publishing Group.

Professor Zhifeng Huang is an associate professor at Wuhan University, China. He is visiting our group, and his research interest is thermal radiation.

Tianli received his B.S. in Physics from the University of Science and Technology of China in 2011. He joined our group in 2012. His current research interests are in thermal transport in nanostructures.

Xiangyu Li, PhD student

Xiangyu received his B.S. in the Department of Electronic Engineering from Tsinghua University (in China) in 2012 and then joined our group. His current research interest is in thermal transport and MEMS. Xiangyu is a recipient of the Ross Fellowship.

Zexi Lu, PhD student

Zexi received his B.S. in Precision Instruments and Mechanology from Tsinghua University (in China) in 2012 and then joined our group. His current research interest is in thermal transport across interfaces. Zexi is a recipient of the Ross Fellowship.

Eshaan Matthew, MS student
Kelly Rickey, Ph.D. student

Kelly received her B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Columbia University in 2008. She then worked at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) before coming to Purdue to pursue her PhD. She joined our group in 2011, and is also co-advised by Prof. Yue Wu. Her current research interest is in solar nanomaterials and devices. Kelly received the Winkleman Fellowship (2010-2012) and the Cordier Fellowship (2013-2014) from the School of Mechanical Engineering. She received the Best Student Presentation Award from the 2012 SPIE Optics and Photonics Conference.

Christopher Robinson, M.S. student

Christopher Robinson received his B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Purdue in 2014 and then joined our group. Chris received the Lozar Fellowship from the School of Mechanical Engineering. His current research interest is in thermoelectric materials.

 

Jingjing Shi, PhD student

Jingjing received her B.S. from the School of Aerospace of Tsinghua University (in China) in 2012 and then joined our group. She is also co-advised by Professor Fisher. Her current research interest is in thermal transport across interfaces.

Yan Wang, Ph.D. student

Yan received his B.S. in Precision Instruments and Mechanology from Tsinghua University (in China) in 2010 and then joined our group. His current research interest is in thermal transport in graphene and across interfaces. Yan is a recipient of the Andrews Fellowship.

Zuyuan received his B.S. in Thermal Engineering from Tsinghua University (in China) in 2010 and M.Eng. in Mechanical Engineering from Nanyang Technological University (in Singapore) in 2012. He joined our group in 2012. His current research interest is in phonon transport.
