Computation:

Hardware:

  • Computer cluster with more than 700 cores.

Computation codes:

  • In-house codes including machine lerning, four-phonon scattering, and dual-phonon transport.

  • Ab initio molecular dynamics: VASP, ABINIT, Quantum Espresso, WIEN2K, Gaussian, CPMD, etc.

  • Classical lattice dynamics and molecular dynamics: LAMMPS, GULP, etc.

  • Computational electromagnetic package: Lumerical Solutions

Nanomaterials Synthesis and Characterizations:

  • Mixer and probes for making nanoparticle-polymer composites.

  • We also have access to the state-of-the-art nanomaterials synthesis and characterization facilities in the Birck Nanotechnology Center.

Properties Characterizations:

  • An advanced UV-Vis-NIR spectrometer and scatterometer system (Lambda-950) acquired from Perkin-Elmer.  It measures reflectance, transmittance, absorbance, and bi-directional reflectance distribution function (BRDF) of nanomaterial samples.

  • FTIR spectrometer that can measure the reflectance, transmittance, and absorptance in the infrared wavelength range.

  • Solar simulator and probe station for solar cell efficiency measurements.

  • Viscosity measurements
