February 18th 2006 Fellows Meeting Agenda

  • December Activity Questions Fellows will share the answers to their December Activity Questions if possible. Fellows, please remember to bring your answers with you
  • What do you do when there is nothing to do?
  • What is it that each fellow is doing at the school on a daily basis and what projects have you worked on?
  • Are there better ways to improve your efficacy/efficiency?
    • How do you make suggestions to the teacher?
    • What is the best utilization of your time?
    • Is there a better way to utilize our capabilities?
    • 2 days in clas w/4hrs to prep - 1 day in class w/12 hrs to prep - 0 days in class w/20hrs to prep?
          - Would fewer hours in the class require a teacher to be more involved in the unit creation due to the fellow not being there as the unit continues?  Would this force more planning time and therefore more synergy?
    • How important is having the teacher's undivided attention during a meeting to work on materials?
  • If you could go back to Day 1 & evaluate what you thought your role would be and compare it to what you are experiencing
    • What did you see yourself doing?
    • How much collaboration did you expect?
    • What are you doing? What is the reality of the program?
    • What suggestions do you have to improve the program for the future?
    • How much inquiry-based teaching have you been incorporating? How often is it at the forefront of your thoughts? What have been your struggles?
  • Weekly meetings with teachers -
    • How can we create a schedule where we meet with teachers on a weekly basis to plan?
    • How effective do you think this would be in increasing your impact to the program?
    • Should the GK12 program make this a requirement of the program for the teachers
  • Discussion about the individual teams' activities and goals (question 1c)
  • What it means to be a visiting scientist?
