Professor Lumkes is an Associate Professor in the Department of Agricultural and Biological Engineering and Associate Director of the Global Engineering Programs (GEP). He received his BSE from Calvin College in 1990, his MSE from the University of Michigan in 1992, and his Ph.D. from the University of Wisconsin in 1997. His current research focuses on appropriate design, agricultural mechanization, international service learning, multi-domain modeling of dynamic systems, mechatronics, and fluid power. In 2002 he published a textbook titled “Control Strategies for Dynamic Systems.” Professor Lumkes facilitates international activities in Africa, Brazil, and China for Purdue faculty, staff, and students.
