Q
What is a word describing Purdue University: College of Engineering?
A
Invigorating.
Q
What is one fictional character you relate with; describing you and your relation with COE?
A
Shuri from Black Panther has an incredible mastery of technology, which I find both thrilling and inspiring. Her character-kind, empathetic, strong, fierce, and intellectually brilliant-uses her advanced skills in AI and tech to benefit her community. Shuri embodies many qualities that resonate with me, she reflects traits that I already possess and others I am striving to develop and refine. Shuri is also an African girl just like and she is highly passionate about her kingdom and people. Shuri is my sister, she just does not know it yet, WAKANDA FOREVER!! **wink wink wink**.
Q
What is particularly special about Purdue University for you?
A
At Purdue, I feel like endless opportunities are within my reach. I have the resources and support to achieve anything I set my mind to in my field. Having access to such a wealth of resources is incredibly empowering and invigorating!! Purdue makes me realize how much the world is truly my oyster.
Q
Biggest challenge you faced and how you overcame it?
A
My early years at Purdue and graduate school journey were far from smooth. I felt lost, and uncertain about my field, and switched majors three times before finding clarity in my research focus. Through those challenges, I leaned on my faith, friends, and campus resources like Purdue Career Services, the Writing Lab, and Counseling and Psychological Services. Networking with faculty and advanced students helped guide me, while dance classes at the Co-rec brought moments of joy and balance during difficult days. Today, I am proud to be part of an exceptional research lab in Purdue's Edwardson School of Industrial Engineering department, working on impactful projects, presenting at conferences, publishing papers, and interning at a top tech company. Looking back, it was hard to see beyond the struggles, but I learned to trust the process and embrace setbacks. I remind myself daily that I can be both a masterpiece and a work in progress, striving to offer myself kindness and grace as I navigate life's uncertainties.

A
I aspire to become a Research Scientist at a leading tech company, focusing on accessibility and inclusivity. My goal is to contribute to projects that promote equitable research and product design, ensuring that the needs of individuals who are often neglected are addressed.
Q
What is your advice for prospective students?
A
Perfect the art of looking busy. Whether you're staring at your laptop or scrolling through social media, if you can pull off the "deep in thought" look, you'll fool everyone into believing you're a genius.... I am joking, this tip was from chatgpt. A real advice from my heart and experience is to treat yourself like someone you love and give yourself the same grace and compassion that you will give to others, especially when you encounter setbacks, this will help you navigate times of difficulties and uncertainties. Also, celebrate small wins Completing a reading? Treat yourself! Finished one section of your project? Throw a party! Celebrating the little victories is vital, even if it is just you and your laptop and a plate of jollof rice, do little things outside of school to feed joy into your life.
