What is one fictional character you relate with; describing you and your relation with COE?
A
I relate to Peter Parker (Spider-Man) because, like him, I'm resourceful and enjoy building my own gadgets to solve problems. In the College of Engineering, much like Peter with his web-shooters, I apply my knowledge to create practical solution. His drive for continuous learning and responsibility toward using his skills to make a positive impact resonate with my own goals in engineering and research.

What makes Purdue University special to me is the strong sense of community and the support I've received throughout my journey. The opportunities and resources here have allowed me to grow both academically and professionally, especially in areas like materials science and manufacturing. The faculty and connections I've made have been instrumental in shaping my research and opening doors to collaborations that extend beyond the classroom. Purdue has been a place where I can truly innovate and thrive.

Biggest challenge you faced and how you overcame it?
A
My biggest challenge was adjusting to a new culture and language when I first got into Graduate School. I tackled it by getting out of my comfort zone and practicing my communication skills in everyday situations, not just in class. Immersing myself in the community helped me overcome the barriers and adapt quickly.

What is your favorite activity?
A
Spend time with my wife and visit my family in Mexico whenever possible.

What are your future career aspirations?
A
In my future career, I'm considering two exciting paths: working as a research scientist in industry or pursuing professorship. As a research scientist, I'd focus on soft robotics and haptics, pushing the boundaries of flexible robotics and intuitive interfaces. On the other hand, a faculty position would allow me to combine my passion for research with teaching, mentoring the next generation of engineers while contributing to advancements in these fields.

A
Take advantage of every opportunity to learn and grow, and dive into your field of interest with passion. Don't be afraid to ask questions or seek help. Lastly, learn how to seek the mentoring that best suits your style!
