Event Description

In this session we will give a high level overview about why you should consider a faculty career and how you can craft your timeline from the start of graduate studies to your first offer as a professor. Topics covered include identifying your graduate school game plan for goals, publishing, maximizing your advisor/committee relationships and making your individual development plan (IDP). Faculty careers can vary between institutions (research 1 versus a teaching focused institution), so we will introduce the overarching process of choosing institutions, applying, and interviewing. You will walk away from this workshop with an increased knowledge of how to start the faculty search process.
