Outstanding Postdoc Award

Description: The Purdue University College of Engineering Outstanding Postdoctoral Researcher Award recognizes the accomplishments and contributions of postdoctoral researchers currently employed in Purdue’s College of Engineering who are pursuing careers in academia or entrepreneurship and innovation. Each School of Engineering is invited to submit one nominee. The award is sponsored and managed by the CoE Graduate Education Office.

Award: One Outstanding Postdoc awardee from across the College will receive $2000, a certificate, recognition at an awards luncheon, and in a video specifically produced for this event.

Eligibility:
Nominees must:

  • Be serving as a postdoctoral researcher in Purdue’s College of Engineering at the time of nomination.
  • Have served in their postdoctoral position for at least one complete semester.
  • Have demonstrated interest in an academic career and/or entrepreneurship and innovation.
  • Have demonstrated excellence in research along with teaching, mentoring, and/or service.

Nomination Process:
Each School of Engineering may submit one nominee. For each nominee, please combine the following documents into one .pdf:

  • A statement from the school head or designee indicating the school’s nominee and selection process.
  • A nomination letter (max 2 pages) from the postdoctoral research advisor. The letter should:
    • Include how long this nominee has served in the postdoctoral position.
    • Highlight how this nominee exemplifies the eligibility criteria listed above.
  • A statement (max 1 page) from the postdoctoral researcher describing career goals and how the current postdoc position is supporting those goals.
  • CV of the nominee.

The school will submit to the College by the appropriate deadline.
