Estus H. and Vashti L. Magoon Outstanding Teaching Award
Description: The Purdue University College of Engineering Magoon Awards are given to outstanding teaching assistants and instructors in memory of Estus H. and Vashti L. Magoon, who have influenced the lives of many engineering educators through this award. The award is made possible through the generous Estus H. and Vashti L. Magoon endowment and is managed by the CoE Graduate Engineering Office.
Award: Each Magoon Awardee will receive $2,000, a certificate, recognition at the annual awards luncheon, and in a video produced specifically for this event.
Eligibility:
Nominees must:
- Serving as a TA over their Purdue graduate career for a combined minimum of 1.0 FTE (e.g., at least two semesters as a .5 TA or four semesters as a .25 TA)
- Duties must have included direct contact/teaching with students performed at an exceptional level (lecture, recitation, lab).
Nomination Process:
The selection of the candidate shall be made by a school or departmental committee consisting of both faculty and students. In principle, the selection should be used to select the “best teacher” award recipients. The school will submit to the college by the appropriate deadline.
