Keynote Speaker - Joe Watkins
Joe Watkins’ entrepreneurial drive began in high school where the South Bend native began working as a computer technology consultant serving over 600 clients. Following high school, the Class of ’17 Purdue Boilermaker engineer - together with Purdue undergraduates Yarkin Sakucoglu and Alihan Ozbayrak - co-founded Socio, a modern event technology platform that manages the full lifecycle of multi-session, multi-track virtual, in-person and hybrid conferences - from registration to post-event analytics. The success of Socio earned the trio a Forbes 30 Under 30 award in 2020. In July 2021, Fortune 100 company Cisco acquired Socio, now known as Webex Events, where Watkins serves as Chief Customer Officer.
A Celebration of Engineering Creativity
The College of Engineering is hosting an inaugural engineering design showcase. Over 500 students in 70+ teams, including senior design, PMP capstone, EPICS, VIP and student clubs participating in various design challenges, will share their work during the day:

- 12:30 pm: Judging begins
- 1:00-1:30 pm: Keynote speaker, Joe Watkins with intro by Dean Chiang
- 3:30-4:00 pm: Judging concludes and votes are tallied
- 4:00-4:30 pm: Awards/presentations and Expo concludes
