Please join us to celebrate the Community, Assistance and Resources for Engineering Students (CARES) Hub grand opening!  We will hear opening remarks from Dean Raman, Associate Dean Alexeenko, Purdue Engineering Student Council (PESC) members, and our inaugural CARES Hub Director, Dr. Kristy Eaton.  Remarks will be followed by afternoon refreshments, music, and well-being activities on the Armory front lawn.  Enhance your well-being with some yoga (mats provided), meditation, and yard games.  Don't forget to pick up a CARES Hub stress ball, vinyl cling, and t-shirt while supplies last.  See you there!

The College of Engineering is hosting the third annual engineering design showcase. Last year over 500 students in 90+ teams, including senior design, PMP capstone, FYE, EPICS, VIP and student clubs participated in various design challenges, and shared their work during the day. Engineering Mentor Corps

Interested in earning credit to mentor new incoming students in FYE? The Engineering Mentor Corps connects experienced students with first-generation, transfer, international and other students who are new to Purdue Engineering. EMC mentors earn course credit through helping these new students connect, have fun and begin their journey. We'll give you everything you need to succeed as a mentor - all we need is your willingness to help!

We ask that our mentors have at least a 2.5 GPA and have completed FYE. You'll spend about 1-2 hours per week (counting time in class). Register for ENGR 40400, CRN: 24300 for Fall 2024!

Industrial Scholarship Application Now Open!

The Purdue Engineering Student Council (PESC) is excited to announce that applications for the Industrial Scholarship are now open!   Every year, PESC hosts Industrial Roundtable, which is one of the largest student-run career fairs in the nation. One way that PESC enhances the job fair experience for students is by offering the Industrial Scholarship, which is sponsored by companies participating in the fair.

This is a merit-based scholarship that will be awarded to students who demonstrate a significant commitment to their education and community. It is open to all undergraduate engineering students at Purdue. The judges for the Industrial Scholarship are Purdue professors with experience in various fields, and they will evaluate all applications based on academic merit, volunteer work, and overall quality.

Sur-thriving Week

Sur-thriving Week is a well-being initiative during dead week where engineering orgs hold distressing events to help boost student morale before finals! We have a lot of orgs participating this year and are hoping for a solid turn out. PESC is the main organization planning the event and we are hosting Kona and Kritters on Friday

Wheel RIISE is a wheelchair basketball showcase event featuring the University of Illinois wheelchair basketball team. Speakers at this event will include Julie Dussliere, Chief of Paralympics for the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Committee. A few Purdue men's basketball team members will also be in attendance. Please join us to learn more about adaptive sports and to enjoy Paralympic excellence!

MENTAL HEALTH MINUTE

Gratitude and the Science of Happiness

Did you know that researchers at several universities including the University of California and the University of Pennsylvania have discovered that when adults took time to write down three things in which they were grateful for each day for a period of ten weeks, those people were more optimistic and felt better about their lives than the control group who wrote about their stressors?  By writing what we are grateful for, we learn to be more mindful and look for things that make us smile! Gratitude promotes happiness.

Tip:  Gratitude can come in the form of life's simplest pleasures - a cup of perfectly brewed coffee, an enjoyable conversation, or the sound of birds chirping on a sunny spring day.
