Degree Requirements

This degree requires 30 credit hours total with at least 15 hours of electrical and computer engineering coursework, 6 credit hours of graduate math coursework and up to 9 credit hours in coursework from outside of ECE.

Primary and related areas: All MSECE students must select a primary area of interest and take the associated core course. The area of the second core course, if required, is considered the student’s related area.

These courses are offered online and can be used to fulfill the math requirement:

  • MA 51100, Linear Algebra with Applications
  • MA 52700, Advanced Mathematics for Engineers I
    • If you have limited knowledge of linear algebra, MA511 is recommended first.
  • MA 52800, Advanced Mathematics for Engineers II
    • Can be taken without taking MA511 or MA527 first.
  • Any STAT course on this list.
