The Davidson School of Chemical Engineering's research in soft materials and polymer science and engineering addresses a critical gap in emerging materials-based and polymer-based fields, both in industry and academia. Purdue researchers design and study soft materials such as polymers, gels, colloids and biomaterials, exploring how their molecular structure determines mechanical, electrical and biological properties. This work supports advances in areas including sustainable plastics, drug delivery systems, flexible electronics and advanced manufacturing.
