On December 2, 2022, the Purdue University Board of Trustees approved the Dr. Norman and Dr. Jane Li Chemical Engineering Separations Research Area, made possible by a leadership-level gift from the Li Family Charitable Foundation. This gift supports chemical engineering education and research at Purdue in separations science, an essential field for reducing energy use across the chemical, pharmaceutical and manufacturing industries. Purdue researchers are developing systematic approaches to design energy-efficient separation processes, including distillation, membrane and adsorption technologies, for applications ranging from biofuels to critical materials recovery.
