Purdue Chemical Engineering faculty recognized at 2026 Faculty and Lecturer Excellence Awards

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. — Faculty from Purdue University’s Davidson School of Chemical Engineering were recognized during the College of Engineering's 2026 Faculty and Lecturer Excellence Awards, held April 26.

Among those recognized was Xiaoping Bao, who was recently named a University Faculty Scholar. The designation honors outstanding faculty members who are on an accelerated path for academic distinction and leadership. Bao attended the event, where his achievement was celebrated alongside peers from across the college.

Also recognized was David Hibbitts, who was appointed as the Vern W. Weekman Jr. Rising Star Associate Professor of Chemical Engineering for the academic year. The professorship recognizes exceptional early-career faculty demonstrating significant contributions in research and teaching.
