This year's Annual Purdue AIChE Undergraduate Research Symposium will take place on Tuesday, April 6th and Wednesday, April 7th and will be completely virtual and asynchronous.
The Undergraduate Research Symposium is a great way for students to showcase both their own research as well as show support for peers involved. The symposium will take place in a similar format to this year's Purdue Research Conference and is also an incredible practice opportunity for students to gain feedback before the conference.
Participants will create videos detailing their current research work to be viewed by other students and faculty. On April 6th and 7th, a panel of judges will review all submissions and the winner will receive a guaranteed spot to the 2021 AIChE conference this fall among other prizes!
How to participate
1) Fill out the following sign up form by Sunday, March 28th.
2) You will receive a follow up email with detailed information on how to submit a video for the symposium.
3) Submit your presentation by Friday, April 2nd using the information given in the email.
4) Your submission will be available for viewing by all chemical engineering students and faculty who are interested as well as a panel of judges on Tuesday, April 6th and Wednesday, April 7th.
How to attend
If you are not participating in the symposium itself, you can still support your peers who are! We will send out information through email on April 6th to all chemical engineering undergraduates and faculty and encourage everyone to view videos and support participants.
Presentation guidelines
- Presentations should be in video format and around 8-12 minutes in length.
- Each presentation should include a PowerPoint to implement visuals.
- Should be based on one research project and should focus on explaining the main purpose of the research, the progress made thus far, and the future of the project and the students role on the project.
Event specifics
- The event is virtual and asynchronous this year. Access to all video submissions will be provided to chemical engineering students and faculty to view on April 6th and 7th.
- A panel of judges will also view submissions on the 6th and 7th, and the winner will be announced on Friday, April 9th.
- Interested students are encouraged to participate in the event either by submitting their own video detailing their research or simply by supporting their peers by watching their submission videos.
