AIChE was created in 1908 with only 19 members nationally. Their goal was to help establish the discipline of chemical engineering and set the foundation for a constantly evolving and vital profession. Today, AIChE is the world’s leading organization for chemical engineering professionals with nearly 40,000 members from 93 countries.

Our local Purdue chapter has over 500 undergraduate ChE students for the 2016-2017 school year. Our goals on the local level are to connect students with students, students with faculty, and students with industry. Events to achieve these goals include the annual Industrial Roundtable Banquet, National and Regional conferences including the Chem-E-Car Competition, Student/Faculty luncheons, Student/Faculty Socials, company information sessions, and various philanthropy events including Boo at the Zoo, blood drives, Relay for Life, and Boiler Blast.

AIChE’s vision is to provide value as the global leader of the chemical engineering profession, the lifetime center for professional and personal growth, security of chemical engineers, and the foremost catalyst in applying chemical engineering expertise in meeting societal needs. AIChE believes strongly in promoting excellence in chemical engineering education and global practice, upholding and advancing the profession’s standards, ethics, and diversity, and enhancing the lifelong career development and financial security of chemical engineers through products, services, networking, and advocacy.

Members have the opportunity to access information about chemical engineering processes and methods, connect with global networks and colleagues, and participate in a variety of conferences and programs that will develop individuals professionally and help enrich the world we live in.
