Course Description

Semiconductors are the backbone of today's digital world. This course opens the window to the wonderful world of semiconductors. What semiconductors are, how they serve as the hearts of modern electronics, and how they are being made will be the integral components of this course.

vFabLab™ is a virtual cleanroom environment which has been developed by Prof. Muhammad Mustafa Hussain, launched in April 2019 and currently used by more than 1,000 global users of different age groups with different academic preparations from 120+ different countries. It can be freely accessed via desktop, tablet and smartphones. Like a real cleanroom environment, users enter this virtual cleanroom and can be trained on oxidation, atomic layer deposition, physical vapor depositions (sputtering and evaporation), chemical vapor deposition, photolithography, reactive ion etching, chemical mechanical polishing, and thermal annealing.

In this course, you’ll watch videos, participate in vFabLab activities, and take quizzes. The course is self-paced and learners should anticipate spending 11-15 hours to work through course materials. Learners who successfully complete all requirements for the course will earn a course completion certificate.
