Announcement of availability of Graduate Research Assistant Positions

August 15, 2014

DCSL is looking for two Graduate Research Assistants, starting immediately. Each position is for a period of one year, with the possibility of renewal, subject to renewed availability of funding. The position is available to Masters (with thesis) or PhD students, who are starting at Purdue this Fall. Prior to hiring, there will be an interview process, which will span about a week.

  1. NSF funded project: This will create a failure data repository for computer system failures, initially working with the two latest computing clusters at ITaP, Purdue. The work involves data extraction from system logs, data analysis to identify salient features of the failures, and doing requirements analysis for what other kinds of failure data we need. [This position has been filled. (9/3/2014)]

  2. Department of Energy funded project: This will develop algorithms to estimate the running time of the long-running applications on DOE's supercomputing clusters, in the face of interference and on heterogeneous hardware. The work involves performance profiling, building statistical models (i.e., machine learning algorithms), and working with benchmark programs and distributed applications.
