The Purdue CardioVascular Imaging Research Laboratory
Under the guidance of Dr. Craig Goergen, the Purdue CVIRL is focused on developing advanced imaging techniques to study both cardiac and vascular disease. Since cardiovascular disease is the leading
cause of death and disability in the world, fundamental understanding of heart and vascular disease initiation and progression is necessary to
develop the next generation of therapeutics and devices. Non-invasive imaging has become vital for the detection and monitoring of disease progression,
aiding in the development of technologies that will positively impact the clinical care of patients.
As part of the Weldon School of Biomedical Engineering at Purdue University, we are working with collaborators in the College of Engineering, the College of Veterinary Medicine, the Indiana University School of Medicine, and others to conduct translational research. Our overall aim is to advance the field of imaging to help diagnose, treat, or prevent cardiovascular disease, ultimately providing patients with longer and more fulfilling lives.
