Tell me your story…
I am a junior in construction engineering management. I’m from New York about 40 minutes north of the city. I’ve interned for Mortenson for the past two years in their Minneapolis group.
What is your Official role + duties in the Beta Tau Fraternity?
My role in Beta Tau is Vice President. When the school year starts I’ll be involved with planning the banquet and helping to put on social events for Beta Tau.
What events do Beta Tau contribute to in CEM?
Beta Tau’s main event is the annual CEM banquet. However we are looking for ways to expand beyond the banquet and put on more events. Beta Tau helps out with FYE EYM events, helping the program recruit students, and the women in construction program.
What have you learned in Beta Tau that will be useful in your internships/ future career?
Beta Tau has allowed me to gain leadership skills that I wouldn’t have gotten anywhere else. I’ve also learned to be a better communicator and gain more confidence in my abilities.
What benefits do you have being a Beta Tau leader/member?
Beta Tau has allowed me to develop professional relationships with alumni and industry professionals. I also have met a lot of students in the program who I probably wouldn’t have met otherwise.
