Dr. Tom Iseley and Saleh Behbahani are connecting students with industry leaders and experiential education with the help of The Beaver’s, a Heavy Engineering Construction Association. They recently were invited by the Executive Director, Dave Woods, of the Beavers to participate in the Beavers Student Day to visit the Gordie Howe International Bridge in Detroit, MI.
The Gordie Howe International Bridge project is a Private Public Partnership to design, build, finance, operate and maintain the Ports of Entry and cable-stayed bridge. As well as to design, build, and finance the Michigan Interchange. This $5.7 billion project will deliver much-needed transportation improvements for international travelers. It includes a six-lane cable-stayed bridge multi-use path also accommodating pedestrians and cyclists. The bridge will have a clear span of 2800 feet, the longest extended main stay of any cable-stayed bridge in North America, using no piers in the water.
