Emily Maddox Liggett graduated from Purdue University with a bachelor's degree in chemical engineering and began her career as a field engineer with DuPont in Wilmington, Delaware. After assignments in process engineering, research and product development, she attended Stanford University, where she earned a master's degree in materials science and engineering and an MBA.
Liggett joined materials science company Raychem, where she held roles in sales, marketing, product management, operations and general management. She later served as CEO of private and public technology companies and as a board member for private, public and nonprofit organizations.
Throughout her career, Liggett has lived and worked in Asia, Europe, Africa and several U.S. states. She now lives in Silicon Valley with her husband, David, a fellow Purdue graduate. She teaches at Stanford University and enjoys spending time with their four adult children, six grandchildren and Purdue startups.
