Giving to the Women in Engineering Program

Purdue’s Women in Engineering (WiE) Program works to expand the engineering workforce through outreach, recruitment, enrollment, persistence and degree completion. Pre-college programming introduces and encourages K-12 students to consider studying engineering, expanding the pipeline of Purdue engineering students. Once at Purdue, engineering students can connect within the university’s first residential community for first-year engineers, through courses where they hear from working women engineers and explore different career paths, and through a robust peer mentoring program. These efforts have already delivered powerful victories in enrollment and student success. Investing in the following areas will help scale this impact for more students.

Pre-college programming

Funding Priorities

Women in Engineering Program outreach programs promote academic preparedness and increase awareness and interest in engineering. Additionally, recruitment programs facilitate relationships between high school students, current engineering students and alumni and provide information about Purdue Engineering and its culture of community. Support for these programs will allow for greater reach and participation.

Student programming

WiE student programs promote community building, professional growth and strategies for success — both in the classroom and beyond. Mentoring programs connect students with each other and alumni. Support for these programs will allow for greater enrollment and participation.

Scholarships

Endowed scholarships will attract the best and brightest students from all backgrounds. Financial support ensures that young people who are inspired by WiE’s pre-college programming have a viable pathway to Purdue and that current students have a support system to help them succeed.
