Director's message
On behalf of the entire Women in Engineering (WiE) Program staff, I am excited to bring you the 2024-25 annual report.
Last year, we shared some of our research into mothers and daughters who both earned engineering degrees from Purdue; there are just over 70 such pairs, but the number is growing each year. We created an initial series of three videos that feature three mothers and their daughters. Two of the daughters are current Purdue students and one is an alumna. These videos are highlighted below, and I think all of them will tug on your heartstrings. But I think the larger message is that Purdue has fostered a strong community of women in engineering across generations, and that makes it a great place for women to study and be successful in engineering.
This is perhaps best shown by the recently released ASEE By The Numbers dataset, which shows that Purdue Engineering now enrolls the largest number of undergraduate women engineers in the country — and it’s not even close. I believe very strongly that the work of WiE in outreach to young learners, recruitment of high school students and community building among our current students is a substantial part of the reason that the college has reached this milestone! And WiE cannot do the work that we do without the support and contributions of our alums, partners and friends. Thank you for every role you have played in our success.
