The 2023-2024 Women in Engineering (WiE) Program annual report shows our continued progress in enrollment of women in engineering and our continued impact on current and future students.

We’ve started working on a series of videos that highlight the women in engineering community, and we are excited to share these with you. Our “Storytellers” series highlights a few of our alums, our “My Story” series highlights a few current students and our “Generations” series highlights a few mother/daughter Purdue engineer pairs. In researching mothers and daughters that we could highlight, we found that there are currently 70 pairs of mothers and daughters who have engineering degrees from Purdue. While that may not seem like many, I am convinced that Purdue probably has more of these pairs than any other institution. Did you know that the first daughter who fits these criteria graduated in 1970

Looking forward, we are excited about adding the Indianapolis expansion and creating community for the women students who are based there. The Indy activities are led by Beata Johnson, PhD, who has a joint appointment in EPICS and WiE. Beata is one of our alums and worked for WiE during her undergraduate and graduate studies, so she is well versed in WiE programs and activities.

'Gender in the World' study abroad trip enlightening for engineering students

"One of the best experiences of my life" is how one student described the culmination of ENGR 29600 (Gender in the World Study Abroad). Over spring break in March 24, students in the course joined WiE staff in exploring Europe and immersing themselves in the culture and expanding the impact of gender in a world view.

Storytellers

The video series features College of Engineering alumnae who share their career paths, challenges and successes, to inspire and spur interest in engineering and where it can take you.

Make a contribution to the Women In Engineering Program

The Women in Engineering Program could not achieve its mission to enrich the profession of engineering with women's full participation without generous support from our donors. We offer our sincerest thanks to all who have supported our programs.
