John Norberg Receives the Distinguished Boilermaker Award on October 15, 2025
The Distinguished Boilermaker Award was created in 2021 by President Mitch Daniels. The award is conferred by the president of Purdue University recognizing alumni whose contributions to the university or to the State of Indiana have brought tremendous honor to Purdue; or for non-alumni who have rendered exemplary service to the university.
The award resolution: “In recognition for preserving Purdue history for future generations of Boilermaker students, friends, family and alumni, John Norberg has expertly researched and authored nine books including the latest military history “A Spirit of Service – Purdue University and the United States Military”. John is a treasured asset to the Purdue community and to the State of Indiana.”
John Norberg is an Indiana Journalism Hall of Fame writer who is retired from Purdue University and the Lafayette (IN) Journal and Courier, where he wrote a newspaper column for more than forty-one years and was an award-winning news and feature reporter, receiving more than fifty state and national awards. This is his ninth book. He has written articles for the Saturday Evening Post, USA Today, the Christian Science Monitor, and Time magazine. He was interviewed on CBS News Sunday Morning, NPR’s Big Picture Science, and many newspapers, radio, and television shows.
