Congratulations to Dr. Théo Le Saint - Purdue Additive Research and Technology (PART) - Purdue University

Théo Le Saint successfully defended his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering at Toulouse INP on December 10, 2025. His doctoral research was carried out within the Laboratoire Génie de Production (LGP) in Tarbes, in the Mécanique Matériaux Procédés group, under the supervision of Prof. Clément Keller of UTTOP, with Foued Abroug serving as co-supervisor. His dissertation examined laser rescanning as a corrective strategy in laser powder bed fusion, with a focus on eliminating lack-of-fusion defects and restoring the microstructure and mechanical properties of 316L stainless steel components. The work also resulted in his first Ph.D. publication in the Journal of Manufacturing Processes. Purdue Professor Michael Sealy served as an examiner on Le Saint’s dissertation committee, continuing a relationship that began when the two first met at INSA Rouen. The collaboration with Keller and UTTOP also continues through David Scott Fernander, whose doctoral research is co-advised by Keller as part of his Ph.D. studies involving Purdue University and UTTOP.
