What do I need to bring with me to PREVIEW

Personal belongings for an overnight stay, coat, jacket, umbrella, cash and coins for arcade during bowling and billiards, Purdue swag, souvenirs, and incidentals. There is no set amount of cash to bring as each student's spending habits vary. MEP is not responsible for lost or stolen items, cash, coins or personal belongings.

What is the cost associated with attending PREVIEW?

PREVIEW is offered at no cost to the participants. Lodging, accommodations, activities, and scheduled meals are included for the admitted student. Student participants are responsible for their travel to and from the Purdue main campus. For Guests (parents/guardians), MEP will also provide scheduled meals and activities, however lodging will not be covered for parents/guardians.

Can a parent room with me at the Union Club Hotel?

The Minority Engineering Program covers the cost of housing for the admitted student who will lodge with a peer in a two-student room (separated by gender). Students are encouraged to stay overnight with their peers but may choose to stay with their parents. The Minority Engineering Program is not responsible for hotel/housing arrangements outside the PREVIEW program.

What if I cannot attend one of the PREVIEW dates?

If you cannot attend PREVIEW but are interested in attending Purdue University to study engineering, please contact us to schedule a family visit or zoom meeting to answer any questions you may have.

What will I be doing during the 2-day event?

The agenda includes campus tours, engineering lab tours, engaging meals with faculty and students, engineering projects, exposure to the engineering curriculum and social activities, and the opportunity to attend the Admissions' program, "Purdue's for Me." Additionally, participants will learn about various on campus resources available to students.

Where can I leave my car during the 2-day event?

  • On Sundays, campus parking is free and available in various locations on campus. The parking map is provided here.
  • On Mondays, parking is not free. To park on campus, you will need to purchase a "Daily A Permit" for $5.00/day. This permit allows you to park in any designated "A" parking space on campus such as (Graduate House Parking, Northwestern, Wood Street, open parking lots, etc.). Purchase the Daily A Permit here. Create a free guest login and select "visitor permits" to obtain the parking pass. The parking pass for Grant Street is $10.00/day.

Scholarships and ways to fund my college experience is important, will I learn more about this during the 2-day event?

Yes, parents will attend a college affordability session.
