Academic Success Center
Our Academic Success Center was launched in 1982 to support one of our five core metrics (retention) as a collaborative work/study space for all students. The goal is to provide academic, personal and professional support services and encourage academic excellence leading the students to achieve their academic and professional goals. The center features desks for individual study, tables for group and collaborative study, large-screen collaboration stations, whiteboards, quiet study spaces, tutoring in 40+ subjects and more! Tutoring is available in-person and online and is free to all students. Our center uses the most up-to-date research and data outcomes to understand the needs of our students. Please check back as we are constantly evolving! In the meantime, learn more about our FREE resources below.
Tutoring
Tutoring is available in-person in the Academic Success Center, located in Room 2235 in Lambertus Hall, and online and is free to all students.
*Note: If your desired tutor is unavailable for reservation, you may still walk in during their scheduled tutoring time!
Academic success coaching
We offer coaching in the areas of effective time management strategies, identifying the best study habits and methods for the student, goal setting and more. If you are just looking for accountability, we can assist with that too! Schedule a meeting to get started.
Exam prep sessions
Our program sponsors exam preparation sessions for courses that have been identified through qualitative and quantitative studies to negatively impact the success outcomes of our program participants. These sessions aim to offer access to alternative teaching styles, smaller learning environments and additional exposure to course content to increase the student’s self-efficacy going into their exams.
Course support will vary; however, the fall sessions will typically include support for MA 161/165 and CHEM 115. Please follow us on our social media platforms for updates.
Peer mentoring initiative
Peer Mentoring is a student-led initiative that pairs first-year engineering students with upperclassmen engineering students. Please stop by our offices on the second floor of Lambertus Hall to learn more about being paired with a mentor or how to become a mentor!
Don and Liz Thompson Distinguished Alumni Speaker Series
We encourage all alumni to come back and interact with our students whether it be to share lessons learned from your journey to success as a Purdue Engineering alumni, conduct a workshop on a specific topic or discuss industry insights. Please contact our office to get involved!
MEP: Next Gen podcast
One of our newer initiatives, this is a student-led effort aimed to provide tips and tools for current engineering students as well as shed light on student perspectives. The hosts bring in students, alumni and industry professionals as they delve into a number of relevant topics.
