Purdue ITE Student Chapter Wins 2015 District "Traffic Bowl" - Advances to Nationals

JTRP Researcher Wins Best Paper Award

June 16, 2014 - Current JTRP Researcher and graduate student Michelle Dojutrek is the first author of a paper that recently won the Best Paper Award of the 10th International Conference of the Institute for Infrastructure Resilience and Reconstruction (I3R2). The paper is titled: "A Multi-Criteria Methodology for Measuring the Resilience of Transportation Assets and Prioritizing Security Investments," and will be published in the International Journal of Disaster Resilience in the Built Environment. In presenting a case study to demonstrate its methodology, the paper used data furnished by INDOT. JTRP is mentioned in the paper's acknowledgments.

The other co-authors are: Eric Dietz, Director of the Purdue Homeland Security Institute and Professor of Computer and Information Technology both of Purdue University; and Samuel Labi (Professor of Civil Engineering).

Michelle Dojutrek has worked on a number of JTRP projects including SPR 3427 (A Methodology for Highway Asset Valuation in Indiana) and is currently working on SPR 3702 (Strategies for Grouping of Transportation Projects).

DamageWise Continues to Prove Successful

April 9, 2014 - Implementation of JTRP project SPR-3411 "Recovering Full Repair Costs of INDOT Infrastructure Damaged by Motor Vehicle Crashes," known as DamageWise, continues to demonstrate annual savings for the state of Indiana.  Reimbursement recovered by INDOT have grown from $1.4M in FY 2010 to $4.7M in FY 2013 and reimbursements for FY 2014 are expected to be over $6M.  On March 18, 2014, the department recognized the contributions of their public safety partners with a reception at the INDOT Fort Wayne District to share best practices with other agencies and re-stock public agency partners’ supply of “pink tags.”
