The new state-of-the-art Gateway Complex project, two connected buildings now under construction and expected to open during the 2022-23 academic year, has received another lead gift from a Purdue Engineering alumnus.
In June 2020, the Purdue Board of Trustees approved the naming of the second Gateway Complex building as Lambertus Hall in recognition of Peter and Ann Lambertus’ $10 million gift. Peter Lambertus earned his bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering in 1967. The school has since been renamed the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering.
This gift is one of three major contributions for the Gateway Complex. In 2019, an $11 million gift was announced from William (Bill) Dudley Jr. (BSCE ’74, HDR ’15) and Martha (Marty) Dudley (IUPUI AAS Architectural Drafting ’79, Purdue Northwest-Hammond BS Building Construction Tech ’81). In addition, the Lilly Endowment Inc. provided $40 million.
The Gateway Complex will provide collaborative, industry-focused opportunities for the College of Engineering and Polytechnic Institute. The 250,000-square-foot facility will feature instructional laboratories, faculty offices, design studios, industry co-locations and collaborative spaces.
Lambertus founded Charles River Development in 1984 and served as its president and CEO until 2018. Bill Dudley is the former CEO, president and COO of Bechtel Group, Inc.
