Schedule a well-being workshop
Jennie Beutler (CARES therapist) and Kristy Eaton, EdD, (CARES director) are available to conduct in-person mental health and well-being workshops for your engineering class, group, department or organization at no cost. Live virtual workshops are available for Indianapolis engineering community members. With the exception of QPR, workshops are designed to last 50 minutes but can be longer if time permits. A list of workshops is included. Please note that additional workshops can be created upon request to meet audience needs.
An Introduction to Mental Health and Well-Being
This workshop offers an introduction to mental health and ways to ensure mental health and well-being in life. Learn how to integrate well-being practices into academic life. Thoughts and behaviors that get in the way of wellness and academic success will also be discussed. Leave the workshop with tools to enhance and sustain your well-being.
Managing Perfectionism
This workshop will provide attendees with knowledge about what perfectionism is and how to ensure perfectionism does not harm personal well-being. Attendees will leave the workshop with skills and resource ideas to manage perfectionism in a healthy way.
Healthy Boundaries with Students
This workshop provides staff and faculty with a framework to create and maintain healthy boundaries with their students. Case examples will be provided with time for attendees to collaborate with colleagues about dilemmas related to navigating boundary issues with students.
Self-Awareness as a Means to Self-Improvement
This workshop teaches attendees the practice of self-awareness as a means to achieve at higher levels. Self-understanding and self-compassion are keys to performing at high levels in all areas of life. Attendees will learn practical ways to practice self-awareness reflection as the avenue to achieving well-being and success.
Social Media and Its Impact on Mental Health
Attendees will learn the harmful effects of overconsumption of social media. Attendees will learn the significant impact social media has on mental health and methods to develop a healthy relationship with social media as a vehicle by which to improve overall well-being.
Coping with Anxiety and Depression
Are you struggling with anxiety and/or depression? The two often go hand in hand and can impede academic success and overall quality of life. Learn about these mental health challenges and ways to combat them, including resources that are available when additional support is needed.
Conquering Imposter Phenomenon (IP)
Imposter phenomenon is very common. 82% of us experience it at one time or another in our lives. Learn about the etiology and symptoms of IP and strategies to conquer it! With the exception of QPR training, this workshop is our most requested workshop!
Question, Persuade, Refer (QPR) Suicide Prevention Training
This two-hour evidence-based training repeatedly has been proven to save lives. Just two hours of time can equip attendees with the skills needed to listen and help save a life. At the completion of training attendees are awarded a QPR Gatekeeper Certificate.
Suicide Prevention: An Overview
Don’t have the time to offer a two-hour QPR suicide prevention training? This 50-minute workshop provides information about suicide risk factors, warning signs and where to find help on campus and in the local community for persons considering suicide.
