Purdue’s second annual Day of Giving, which ran midnight to midnight on April 29, netted $13,695,951 from 9,592 donations — surpassing last year’s $7.5 million total and setting a record for most dollars raised for higher education through a single-day campaign. Donations were received from all 50 states.
The College of Engineering more than doubled money received from alums, students, friends, companies, and foundations from last year — $2.6 million in 2014 to $6.3 million in 2015. In addition, the College secured $116,044 in bonus money for winning a number of challenges throughout the day.
Funding was secured for two new endowed faculty chairs in Electrical and Computer Engineering and Civil Engineering. Also funds will provide scholarships for students, help to renovate facilities and provide unrestricted funding for College programs.
