Center Hosts Student Poster Session and Research Idea Contest

Event Date: November 3, 2022

The Elmore ECE Emerging Frontiers Center on the Crossroads of Quantum and AI held a poster session open to all Purdue researchers in the MSEE Design Center on Nov. 3rd from 2-4pm on topics related to quantum, artificial intelligence, machine learning, big data, large-scale manufacturing, photonics, and neuromorphic computing. There were many student presenters from the ECE and Physics departments, as well as participants from the Food Science and Industrial Engineering departments. Overall, the poster session had about 20 presenters and many more students, postdoctoral researchers, and faculty stopping by throughout to discuss the research being done across Purdue. In addition to the poster session, the Center also kicked off a research idea contest. Students were tasked with forming teams of two to jointly develop a research idea that bridges the “virtual” (algorithms, data science, etc.) and “physical” (hardware, sensing, etc.) sides of ECE to approach an important problem of mutual interest. Winners of the best poster award and research idea contest are shown below.
