AI Masters

New online Master's in AI from Purdue is designed for people who build AI systems and for people who use them.

Purdue University is launching a 100% online Master of Science in Artificial Intelligence. This interdisciplinary program caters to two distinct professional groups. AI builders, including scientists and technologists, will receive training in machine learning, deep learning, and data science. AI translators, such as business leaders and policymakers, will focus on the applications of AI in business decisions.

Dimitrios Peroulis, Purdue’s senior VP for online learning, emphasized the interdisciplinary nature of AI, with applications across various domains. The online MS program is designed to accommodate both highly technical learners and those without a technical background, offering courses in AI foundations, ethics, and policy implications.

“We have a long history at Purdue of delivering online options that are just as high quality as our top-ranked on-campus programs, and we’re excited to bring that passion and expertise to such an important domain,” said Milind Kulkarni, Michael and Katherine Birck Head and Professor of Purdue’s Elmore Family School of Electrical and Computer Engineering, who has been involved in developing the new AI master’s program. “Whether you’re someone with a technical background who wants to learn about modern AI techniques and applications, or someone who needs to understand how your company or organization can best take advantage of cutting-edge AI technologies, our program is going to have something for you.”

Students will complete a capstone course and choose from a wide range of interdisciplinary electives to customize their degrees and gain professional skills. Developed by Purdue’s renowned faculty, the program incorporates the latest AI research. With 30 credit hours required, students can graduate in 18 months. Purdue’s initiative aims to meet the growing demand for AI skills, benefiting professionals locally and globally.
