Seoul National University Professor Sung-Hoon Ahn Shares Vision for Inclusive Physical AI at Purdue’s CORIA Seminar Series
Professor Sung-Hoon Ahn of Seoul National University visited Purdue University on August 17, 2026, to deliver a seminar as part of the CORIA Seminar Series, a new initiative launched this year by Purdue University’s Center of Operation and Research for Industry Advancement (CORIA), led by Professor Martin Jun.
Professor Ahn’s seminar, titled “Appropriate Physical AI: Building Sensing, Robotics, and Manufacturing Systems That Reach Everyone,” explored how physical artificial intelligence, robotics, sensing, and smart manufacturing can be designed to serve communities and industries with diverse technological and economic resources.
Drawing on more than 15 years of research and field experience, Ahn presented examples of technology development across three interconnected areas: villages, factories, and robotics.
The CORIA Seminar Series continues to serve as a platform for strengthening research collaboration among universities, research institutes, and industry partners working in advanced manufacturing and additive manufacturing technologies. By inviting leading researchers from institutions across the country, the series encourages the exchange of ideas, fosters interdisciplinary partnerships, and creates new opportunities for collaborative research initiatives.
