KIAT–CORIA G.R.I.D Webinar Explores Multi-Functional Integration in Electrification and AI

On March 12, 2026, Professor Woongkul Lee delivered a presentation titled "Shift From Discrete Optimization to Multi-Functional Integration in the Era of AI and Electrification" as part of the KIAT‑CORIA G.R.I.D webinar series, drawing scientists, engineers, and industry professionals worldwide.

Professor Woongkul Lee addressed how electrification is rapidly expanding across transportation and industry alongside the unprecedented scaling of AI data centers, creating urgent pressure for grid overhaul. Rather than competing for energy and infrastructure, these trends were framed as opportunities for co-existence.

The presentation highlighted multi-functional integration, including integrated motor drives, grid-interactive vehicles and chargers, co-designed power and cooling systems, and AI-enabled adaptive infrastructure, enabling electrification to scale efficiently and reliably alongside AI-driven energy demand.

This seminar was co-organized by Professor Martin Byung-Guk Jun, Director of CORIA, and Hwan Il Yoo, Chief representative of KIAT U.S. office. The KIAT-CORIA Webinar series connects Purdue professors with Korean academics, industry researchers, and institutions to foster joint research and networking. The seminars provide a platform for collaboration, knowledge sharing, and building partnerships to drive future technological innovation.
