Why did you choose to study CEM at Purdue?
I chose to study CEM at Purdue because of my interest in architecture. I find it intriguing how buildings start off as drawings on paper and then become real structures. CEM gives students the opportunity to learn about construction in both the classroom and out in the field.
What are the biggest advantages to being a student in CEM at Purdue?
The biggest advantages of being a student in the CEM program at Purdue are the ability to obtain internship experience and having a small class size. Having internship experience is important because it allows for the students to really get a sense of what they will be doing once they graduate. Having a small class size is also important because it allows for the students to get to know one another, network, and learn from each other’s experiences.
What have been some of your favorite Purdue experiences?
My favorite experiences at Purdue so far have ranged from big events like the barbeques to smaller experiences that happen in class. Just being able to joke around and have a good time with the other students in CEM has really made an impact on my experiences at Purdue. The friends I have made in CEM are all so positive, hardworking, silly, and amazing to be around. I honestly couldn’t image college without them.
What are your career goals?
One of my main career goals is to become a project engineer on a new building project that is starting from breaking ground. I have always wanted to work on a large scale building project from start to finish. In the long run, I hope to be able to work my way up in a construction company.
How does it feel to be awarded a scholarship?
I was honored to be awarded the Clark Construction Group, LLC Scholarship. I was unaware of the scholarship program that the CEM department had. When I received the scholarship, I was taken off guard, but I was also so thankful and appreciative for all of the donors and the opportunity to be selected by the CEM Awards Selection Committee.
