Section 2: Information for Emergency Responder

Building Description

The Martin C. Jischke Hall of Biomedical Engineering (MJIS) is a 3 story building with basement that houses classrooms, faculty and staff offices, research laboratories, a shipping and receiving dock, and animal holding areas, located at 206 S. Martin Jischke Drive. There are three public entrances facing West, two public entrances facing East and a service entrance to the shipping/receiving area to the North. Building operating hours  are controlled by a card access system. Normal (open) building hours are Mon.-Fri. 7 AM to 10:30 PM and Saturday 7:30 AM to 12:30 PM. The North service entrance locks at 3:30 PM. BME faculty, staff, graduate students, and building service, physical facilities, and fire and safety are entered into the card database to maintain 24 hour access.

Building Alarm(s)

  • Fire alarm horns with accompanying strobe lights are present in all occupied areas of the building. If an alarm is sounding, evacuate promptly.
  • Elevators sounding an alarm buzzer should not be used. Elevators should also not be used in event of a fire.
  • All other laboratory equipment alarms relate to their operational requirements, and do not indicate safety hazards.
