Two ChE faculty members to receive AIChE awards at Annual Meeting

The American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE) will present a pair of prestigious awards to two Davidson School of Chemical Engineering faculty members. Dr. Rakesh Agrawal and Dr. Gintaras Reklaitis are slated to receive awards for outstanding research and education at the AIChE Annual Meeting in Minneapolis, Minnesota in October.

The American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE) will present a pair of prestigious awards to two Davidson School of Chemical Engineering faculty members. Dr. Rakesh Agrawal and Dr. Gintaras Reklaitis are slated to receive awards for outstanding research and education at the AIChE Annual Meeting in Minneapolis, Minnesota in October.

Dr. Rakesh Agrawal (left), the Winthrop E. Stone Distinguished Professor of Chemical Engineering, will receive the Alpha Chi Sigma Award for Chemical Engineering Research. The Alpha Chi Sigma Award recognizes an individual researcher’s outstanding accomplishments in fundamental or applied chemical engineering research. Sponsored by the Alpha Chi Sigma Educational Foundation, the Award will be presented at the Honors Ceremony of the AIChE Annual Meeting and includes a plaque and $5,000.

Dr. Gintaras Reklaitis (right), the Burton and Kathryn Gedge Distinguished Professor of Chemical Engineering, will receive the Warren K. Lewis Award for Chemical Engineering Education. The Lewis Award recognizes distinguished contributions to chemical engineering education, and will be presented at the Honors Ceremony of the AIChE Annual Meeting. The Award is sponsored by ExxonMobil Research & Engineering Company, and includes a plaque and $5,000, plus up to $500 for travel.

Purdue Chemical Engineering faculty have won three recent Lewis Awards. Dr. Reklaitis is joined by Dr. Phillip Wankat, the Clifton L. Lovell Distinguished Professor Emeritus of Chemical Engineering, (2016) and Dr. Arvind Varma, the R. Games Slayter Distinguished Professor of Chemical Engineering (2013).
