Other Scholarships for Civil Engineering Students

The following is a list of scholarships available to civil engineering students. These scholarships originate from a variety of sources and become available at different times throughout the year. Deadlines to apply vary with each scholarship. Applications can be obtained online through the sponsor organization unless otherwise indicated.

  • ACEC – American Council of Engineering Companies Member Organization (ACEC Indiana) – To qualify for General scholarships offered, a student must be entering their junior, senior or fifth year, in the fall of the year in which the scholarship would be received. In addition, a student must be a US citizen pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in an ABET-approved engineering program or in an accredited land surveying program. There are also Specialty scholarship(s) available. See website for details. The winners of ACEC Indiana scholarships are then eligible to compete at the national level. Deadline early February.  

  • ACI – American Concrete Institute – The American Concrete Institute offers many fellowship and scholarship opportunities for graduate and undergraduate students interested in the concrete industry. Fellowship recipients receive an educational stipend valued at $7,000-$10,000, in addition to travel/expenses for participation in two ACI conventions, assignment of an industry mentor, and the opportunity for a summer internship.   • ACI – American Concrete Institute – Illinois Chapter – Any student who has completed at least two years of study toward their bachelor degree may apply for this award. The student must currently be residing within the State of Illinois. A student attending an institution of higher education outside of the area is eligible for the award if it can be demonstrated that resident within the State of Illinois was maintained prior to attending that institution. The applicant must be enrolled for undergraduate study at an accredited university which has a bachelor degree program, related to concrete design, materials, construction or any combination of these.   • ACI – American Concrete Institute – Indiana Chapter – Scholarships presented to sophomores or juniors in a concrete related field who intend on pursuing a career in concrete design or construction. Deadline for application each year is March. Applications available on line here.

  • ADSC – The International Association of Foundation Drilling – The International Association of Foundation Drilling invites applications for up to $3,000 for graduate scholarships from United States and Canadian citizens for graduate study in geotechnical or structural engineering. Applicants must be currently enrolled in an ABET or CEAB accredited engineering program or be a graduate from such a program, and must plan to enter or continue graduate school during the upcoming academic year. A minimum of fourteen scholarships will be awarded for the academic year beginning in the fall semester. In addition to the scholarship, winners will be flown (travel and lodging expenses paid) to the ADSC Annual Meeting, and formally introduced to the membership. Deadline is in mid-March.   • AGC Education and Research Foundation – Scholarships available to sophomores and juniors in a 4-year program, or beginning seniors in a five-year program. Applicants must be pursuing a degree in a construction or construction-related engineering program. The renewable award is in the amount of $2,500 per year for each year of undergraduate education, and can be renewed for up to four consecutive years. Completed application packet must be postmarked by November 1.

  • AGC Education and Research Foundation – Scholarships available for seniors who plan to attend graduate school and also a scholarship competition open to seniors in civil and construction engineering. For the 'James L. Allhands Essay Contest' an essay must be submitted on this topic: "The Construction Company's Role in Improving Safety." Essays may be no more than ten typewritten pages and must be printed in at least 11-point font. All essays require the faculty sponsor to verify that each essay submitted has been proofed to ensure its publish ability. 

  • AGC of Ohio Education Foundation – Numerous scholarship opportunities are coordinated under the auspices of AGC of Ohio. These scholarships are available to students pursuing construction-related degrees. Most are for Ohio residents, but there are some that include students attending an institution in Indiana. Applicants must be US citizen, have 2.5 minimum GPA, and must be an undergraduate at least in the second year of course work. Visit www.agcohio.com for more details.   • Air Force – USAF – The Air Force has dramatically expanded "full-ride" scholarship opportunities for a number of academic majors. Non-competitive scholarships and competitive merit scholarships are available. For either type of scholarship the requirements include passing their physical fitness test, the Air Force Officer Qualifying Test, and a medical physical, as well as being a U.S. citizen. The grade requirements are 2.65 or better, with a 2.35 GPA minimum for the previous semester. An additional restriction of not having an F or two D's in the previous semester also applies. WHAT IS THE CATCH? A guaranteed, high paying, high responsibility job after graduation and a four year commitment to active duty after graduation. Competitive salary and full benefit package including 30 paid vacation days per year. You must have at least two years remaining at Purdue and meet the other requirements.   • The Amelia Earhart Scholarship – Amelia Earhart, through her aviation firsts and association with Purdue, is one of the best known Purdue University role models. This scholarship is based on academic merit and leadership and is open to juniors and seniors enrolled in any school at the West Lafayette campus. Deadline to apply is January 1. Application information. You must also submit a one page typed essay along with the application.

  • American Electroplaters and Surface Finishers Society – Scholarships available to upper class undergraduate and graduate students who are interested in careers in the surface finishing field. This includes those majoring in Environmental Engineering. The application with all requested documentation must be postmarked in April in order to be considered for the following academic year. The recipients will be notified in late July or early August.   • American Institute of Steel Construction, AISC – This award supports the development and enhancement of educators dedicated to the teaching of steel-related topics. This year's award recipient will receive a $20,000 grant, national recognition and present his/her project at the Educator Session of an upcoming North American Steel Construction Conference.   • American Public Power Association (APPA) awards scholarships each year as part of its DEED (Demonstration of Energy-Efficient Developments) Program. APPA is the service organization for the nation's community-owned, not for profit electric utilities. DEED is APPA's program of research and development to encourage activities that promote energy innovation and efficiency. Ten $4000 scholarships are awarded each year to students to conduct research on a project approved by a sponsoring DEED member utility. DEED awards one Technical Design Project each year intended to promote the involvement of students studying in energy related disciplines and geared towards engineering students. This scholarship is for $5000, plus travel expenses to present the project at APPA's Engineering and Operations Technical Conference held each spring. Deadline to apply is in October.   • American Public Transporation Foundation (APTF) – The mission of APTF is to increase and retain the number of young professionals entering the public transportation field as a career in order to sustain growth and improvement throughout the industry. The selection criteria include a continued demonstrated interest in the public transportation industry as a career, academic achievement, and need for financial assistance. To qualify students must have: (1) maintained good standing in the approved fields of study, and (2) be sponsored by an APTA member organization or APTA member assignee by providing a written coordinator/mentor review from the sponsoring or assigned APTA member organization. Scholarships are awarded to students entering their junior, senior or graduate levels of college. Applications are available on the foundation’s website, www.aptfd.org.   • American Public Works Association, Illinois Chapter will award a $500 scholarship to an eligible student. Application deadline is August 1. Student must be enrolled in a college course of study related to the public works field and reside or attend college in the Prairie Branch area of Illinois. Student must be entering the sophomore, junior or senior year and have an overall "B" average in college.  Website

  • American Public Works Association, Chicago Metropolitan Chapter – will award a third year level college student or any higher level at an accredited university whose major course of study encompasses the fields of Civil or Environmental Engineering, Public Works Administration, or other program within the public works field. Candidates must reside or be employed with the geographic boundaries of the APWA Chicago Metro Chapter. This area includes the entire counties of Cook, Lake, McHenry, DuPage, DeKalb, Grundy, Kane, Kankakee, Kendall and Will – all in Illinois. There are multiple awards totaling minimum amount of $3,000 are intended to be rewarded. Active members of the APWA Chicago Metro Chapter Scholarship Committee and their family members are not eligible to apply.   • American Public Works Association, Chicago Metro Chapter – Multiple awards totaling a minimum of $3,000 to students pursuing a degree in civil or environmental engineering or public works administration. Application deadline: October of each year. Applicant must be a resident of Illinois Counties; Cook, Lake, McHenry, DuPage, DeKalb, Grundy, Kane, Kankakee, Kendall and Will.   • American Public Works Association, Chicago Metro Chapter (Lake Branch) – Scholarship for candidates pursuing a degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or Public Works Management. Deadline in early April.

  • American Society of Naval Engineers – Candidate will be applying for either the last year of a full-time or co-op undergraduate program leading to a designated engineering degree or physical science degree. Candidate must be a U.S. citizen and have demonstrated or expressed a genuine interest in a career in Naval Engineering, e.g. student membership in a professional engineering society, extra-curricular engineering activities, etc. For application information visit their website.   • AMG Structural Engineering Scholarship – The AMG Structural Engineering Scholarship was created to support tomorrow’s outstanding structural engineers, as well as recognize the schools and teachers who have inspired and nurtured their aspirations. A total of $1,500 will be awarded to the student that portrays the highest qualifications. Applicants must be a full time student in the school year for which the scholarship is being awarded, have a minimum GPA of 3.0, and in a major related to structural engineering (ie. Civil or Mechanical) and involved in at least one extracurricular activity. Applications are typically due in mid-October. See AMG, Inc. site for more details and to access application.

  • Asphalt Pavement Association Of Indiana Scholarship – Two to three individual scholarships are awarded annually by the Asphalt Pavement Association of Indiana. The specific dollar amount awarded is based on funds accrued in the association's scholarship fund. Selection will be based on the information completed in the application, including an official transcript and one professor recommendation. The final selection will be made by the Asphalt Pavement Association of Indiana Scholarship Committee following on-campus interviews. Recipients are strongly encouraged to receive their scholarship award in person at the association's annual meeting in December in Indianapolis. Students must have completed a course that covers hot mix asphalt technology (CE 231, CE 331, CE 461). Opportunities also exist to pursue summer internship with a member firm. Students who are planning to pursue careers that utilize asphalt technology in the state of Indiana are encouraged to apply. Minimum GPA 2.5. Must be a U.S. citizen.   • ASPRS: The Imaging & Geospatial Information Society – Robert E. Altenhofen Memorial Scholarship, William A. Fischer Memorial Scholarship, LH Systems Internship, Space Imaging Award for Application of High Resolution Digital Satellite Imagery, Ta Liang Memorial Award, Z/I Imaging Scholarship.   • Association for the Advancement of Cost Engineering (AACE) – AACE International is dedicated to advancing the study of cost engineering, and cost management through the integrative process of total cost management. To promote this objective, AACE awards academic scholarships to full-time students pursuing a related degree in engineering, construction management, building construction, computer sciences, business, quantity surveying, information technology, etc. The scholarships are available to currently-enrolled, full time undergraduate and graduate college students who will be enrolled the following academic year (fall term) in a degree program related to one of those mentioned above. Scholarships are limited to students enrolled in accredited colleges and universities in the U.S. and Canada. Awards range from $2,000 to $8,000.   • Association of State Dam Safety Officials – Scholarships up to $10,000 will be awarded each school year. Successful recipients must be US citizens and enrolled full-time at the senior level in an accredited civil engineering program, or in a related field as determined by ASDSO, and must demonstrate an interest in pursuing a career in hydraulics, hydrology, or geotechnical disciplines, or in another discipline related to the design, construction and operation of dams. Applicants must have a cumulative grade point average of 2.5 for the first three years of college and be recommended by their academic advisor. They must also submit a typewritten essay describing his or her goals and purpose for applying. Students planning to graduate in May/December are eligible to apply.   • Astronaut Scholarship – The Astronaut Scholarship Foundation awards one $10,000 scholarship to a Purdue undergraduate annually. Students need not be seeking a future in the Astronaut Corps to apply! The scholarship is aimed at those planning advanced degrees toward a research career in a STEM field. Applicants should exhibit motivation, imagination, and exceptional performance in the science or engineering field of their major and should be intellectually daring in order to join the ranks of the elite Astronaut Scholars. Students can apply as a Sophomore and/or Junior and must be a United States citizen. All applicants must apply through the Purdue University National and International Scholarships Office (NISO).   • Barry M. Goldwater Scholarship – The Barry Goldwater Scholarship Program awards $7,500 scholarships to approximately 300 undergraduates throughout the country annually. The Scholarship was created to encourage outstanding students to pursue research careers in mathematics, the natural sciences, or engineering and to foster excellence in those fields. In awarding scholarships, the Foundation Board of Trustees will consider the nominated student's field of study and career objectives and the extent to which that individual has the commitment and potential to make a significant contribution to his or her field. Applicants should be planning to pursue a Ph.D. in a STEM field and a career devoted to research. Students can apply as a Sophomore or Junior and must be a United States citizen, national, or permanent resident. All applicants must apply through the Purdue University National and International Scholarships Office (NISO). Due date is in the fall semester.   • BluePay STEM Scholarship - To qualify, undergraduate or graduate students must be majoring in a STEM field of study and attending an accredited college or university. The application includes an essay answering 1 of 3 questions in a minimum of 500 and a maximum of 1,000 words: 1. What recent innovation has meant the most to your daily life? 2.  What do you imagine or have you experienced to be the single greatest challenge that arises when you start your own business? 3.   • The Builders Foundation – Assists students committed to careers in construction and pursuing an approved curriculum such as construction management or civil engineering. The foundation awards $4,000 scholarships per student, per year and renewable for up to two total years of undergraduate study. Eligibility: Applicant must have attended a Chicago area (Boone, Cook, DeKalb, DuPage, Grundy, Kane, Kankakee, Kendall, Lake, LaSalle, McHenry, and Will counties in Illinois; Lake and Porter counties in Indiana; Kenosha and Walworth counties in Wisconsin) high school. Applicant must be a college sophomore or junior. Junior-level applicants must have one full year of coursework remaining at the beginning of the fall term. Applicant must be seeking a career in construction. Applicant must PURSUE A BS DEGREE in an approved construction curriculum such as Construction Management or Civil Engineering.   • Chicago Committee on High-Rise Buildings Scholarship – Annual $5000 scholarship program to support eligible students at any university with an alumnus who serves as a member of the CCHRB. Send an email to Charlie Carter (carter@aisc.org) to indicate your intention to apply. Area of study must be directly related to some aspect of the design, construction, operation and/or rehabilitation of high-rise buildings, such as architecture, engineering, construction management, and real estate. Graduate students, highly qualified senior and junior level undergraduates are eligible. Student must have at least one, and preferably two, semesters remaining.   • Concrete Reinforcing Steel Institute – The objective of this Undergraduate Scholarship Program is to foster the development of practicing engineers and constructors in the field of reinforced concrete construction. The scholarship program provides financial assistance to undergraduate students, namely, seniors majoring in Civil Engineering (CE), Construction Engineering (CnE), or Architectural Engineering (AE), and seeking their Bachelors Degrees. Criteria includes: Applicants must be citizens of the United States of America and attend a college or university in the United States of America. Applicants must be a qualified full-time senior students during the entire scholarship period, and enrolled in a Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering, or Architectural Engineering curriculum which is accredited by ABET.   • Construction Owners Association of America (COAA) – Albert E. Phillips Scholarship – Founded to help construction project owners succeed in the design and construction process, the COAA established the Albert E. Phillips Scholarship in an effort to honor the founder of COAA and to support students who choose a career path in the design and construction field of study. Eligibility criteria include: Applicants must be either an employee or a relative of an employee of a COAA member, must be a full-time undergraduate student who has successfully completed the freshman year in a technical field of study such as architecture, engineering, landscape architecture, construction management or similar, and should have a minimum 2.5 GPA on a 4.0 scale.   • David Evans and Associates, Inc. Scholarship – The goal of the DEA scholarship is to assist the recipient in pursuing a bachelor's degree in a course of study related to a career in one of DEA's major business lines (water resources, energy, land development, or transportation) or our numerous technical specialties. The recipient may use this scholarship at any accredited college or university institution. DEA will award several $3,000 annualized scholarships. Students receiving the scholarships during their junior year will have the opportunity to continue the scholarships for their senior year, provided they continue to meet the eligibility guidelines. To be eligible, students must be a junior or senior enrolled at an accredited university. A GPA of 3.0 or above is strongly preferred. Applications must be submitted mid-May.

  • DFI Langan/Bernard F. Fangan Scholarship - Langan Engineering and Environmental Services has established a scholarship at the DFI Educational Trust. The Trust will select the recipient from a field of 5 finalists selected by COFFEE and then make the award directly to the recipient. The scholarship will provide an award to a Purdue University student in good standing enrolled full-time in an undergraduate or graduate civil engineering program with focus on geotechnical engineering. The scholarship honors Bernard F. Langan, a distinguished former member of Langan Engineering and Environmental Services, for his contributions to the deep foundations industry.   • Edward J. Cox Memorial Transportation Scholarship Award – Award presented annually by the Indiana Section of the Institute of Transportation Engineers to encourage students to consider Transportation Engineering/Planning in their studies and career aspirations and to provide partial financial support for tuition and fees to students who have demonstrated an interest in and are likely to work in the transportation field. Each scholarship awarded will be in the amount of $2500. One or more scholarships may be awarded. To be eligible you must be either a full-time undergraduate or graduate student at an Indiana College or University, with career goal emphasis on Transportation Engineering and/or planning. To apply you must complete an application prior to February 1. Include a letter of recommendation from one or more faculty members.   • The Eli Lilly and Company Make Life Better Scholarship- To be eligible for the Eli Lilly and Company make Life Better Scholarship, students must submit an application and meet the following criteria: GPA of 3.0 or above, sophomores, STEM majors, immediate family member may not be employed by Eli Lilly and Company.  Please note the sophomore classification can be based on credit hours earned or program completion. To apply, students need to complete an application form, essay and provide an official transcript and two letters of recommendation.   • GAI Consultants, Inc., Engineering and Environmental Science Scholarship – GAI Consultants, Inc. will award a $5000 scholarship and 10-week paid summer internship to a student majoring in engineering, environmental and/or earth sciences majors from a college or university in the Northeast, Midwest or Southeastern United States. Applicants must be juniors so that they can serve on the internship during the summer prior to the recipient's senior year. Candidates who perform well during the internship may be considered for full-time employment upon graduation. The deadline is in March. More information can be acquired from David Mollish.

  • GoGrad Graduate Scholarships for Women in STEM – While gender equality has gained more awareness, women still tend to be underrepresented in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) careers. As the gender gap begins to decrease in these fields, however, organizations are recruiting women for STEM positions more than ever before.   • Golden Key International Society Engineering Achievement Awards – Applicants are asked to respond to a problem posed by an honorary member within the discipline. One winner will receive a $1,000 award. The second place applicant will receive $750, and the third place applicant will receive $500. Applications will be judged by honorary members in the field of engineering based on the creativity and viability of the response.   • Grand Prix Scholarship – Applicants must be a full-time student at West Lafayette campus. Selection is based upon service to students through campus involvement, academic achievement, and need. Applicants may be called for a person interview. The Purdue Grand Prix has been a tradition of Purdue University since 1958. The primary purpose of the Grand Prix race each April is to raise funds for its annual scholarships that are given to the students. The foundation is a university sponsored student organization that is run by students for students. Awards will be announced during Grand Prix Week.   • HACIA Scholarship Foundation – HACIA promotes professional careers and opportunities in the construction industry for students by providing Hispanic college students and college bound high school students with scholarships. Candidates must be interested in a career in the construction industry and thereby be enrolled in an accredited college or university with a major in an engineering, construction or architectural program.   • Hispanic Engineer National Achievement Awards Corporation (HENAAC) – To qualify for a scholarship, applicants must be full time college students active in the Hispanic community majoring in science, technology, engineering and math with an overall grade point average of at least a 3.0.   • Hispanic Scholarship Fund – In an effort to continue reaching out to Hispanic students, HSF has partnered with corporations and other non-profit groups in developing scholarship programs. Some of these programs involve separate applications and respective deadlines. Please review the Special Scholarship Program descriptions carefully as these programs have specific eligibility requirements in addition to the general eligibility requirements listed.   • Honeywell Innovators Scholarship Program – This program is open to bachelors, masters or select PhD students who will be entering their final academic year of study the following fall semester. Applicants must be enrolled in a science, technology or engineering major and be legally authorized to work in one of the following countries: China, Czech Republic, India, United States or Mexico. Applicants must be able to demonstrate superior academic ability (in top 25% of their class), as well as leadership and community service qualities. Applications are typically due near December 1.

  • Illinois Association of Highway Engineers (IAHE) – Two $1500 scholarships available. The first, The IAHE Scholarship is available to anyone enrolled as a full-time student in a transportation related engineering curriculum at an accredited college or university and has achieved junior or senior standing by September 1st of this year.
    The second, the Loftus J. Collamore Memorial Scholarship, is available only to a member of this association, or his/her immediate family, enrolled at any level as a full-time student in a transportation related engineering curriculum at an accredited college or university. Both scholarships will not be awarded to the same person in the same year. Applications shall be made through the local chapters. Each chapter may select one applicant for each scholarship to submit to the IAHE Scholarship Committee for consideration. Deadline for all materials to be submitted is July.

    CRITERIA to receive $1000.00 scholarship: Majoring in environmental, engineering, or related studies at an accredited college. Be an Illinois resident or graduate of an Illinois high school. To apply submit a letter explaining why you have chosen your particular field of environmental studies; a list of any extracurricular activities you are or have been involved; a copy of your college transcripts and grades for course work completed to date; a letter from your college department head or academic advisor confirming your curriculum.   • Indiana Constructors, Inc. Scholarship Fund (ICI) – Indiana Constructors, Inc. (ICI) established this scholarship program in 1999 as a fund of the Central Indiana Community Foundation. The program was developed by the ICI Workforce Development Committee to encourage interest and possible participation in careers in the construction industry in the state of Indiana. Indiana Constructors, Inc., founded in 1924, is an association of contractors and suppliers working together to provide support, unity and leadership to their industry. The purpose of this fund is to assist persons who are pursuing or who are interested in pursuing a career in the highway, bridge and/or the utility construction industry. The goal is to award four $2,000 scholarships each year, with the scholarship potentially being renewable for a maximum of four years. In the year 2001, four scholarships were awarded and may be renewable for a maximum of four years. The Indiana Constructors, Inc.   • Indiana Ready Mixed Concrete Association, IRMCA – Scholarship(s) will be presented to juniors or seniors in a civil engineering or construction management technology program at a 4 or 5 year program who intends to pursue a career in concrete design or construction.   • ITE Indiana, Edward J. Cox Memorial Scholarship – The Edward J. Cox Memorial Transportation Scholarship Award is presented annually by the Indiana Section of the Institute of Transportation Engineers. The main purpose of the award is to encourage students to consider Transportation Engineering/Planning in their studies and career aspirations, and to provide partial financial support for tuition and fees to students who have demonstrated an interest and are likely to work in the transportation field.   • Indiana Structural Engineers Association - The Indiana Structural Engineers Association (ISEA) is offering scholarships to outstanding university students studying Structural Engineering and who plan to pursue a professional career in the practice of Structural Engineering.   • Indiana Water Environment Association, Besozzi Scholarship – This scholarship is for students (undergraduate or graduate) that are studying Environmental Engineering and may pursue a job in the wastewater treatment industry.   • Indianapolis Chapter CSI Memorial Trust Scholarship (Construction Specification Institute) – Academic scholarships are awarded to students who are enrolled in college at the time of application. To be eligible, applicants must be an Indiana resident or attending a college within the State of Indiana, have a minimum GPA of 2.5/4.0. Applications are due mid-February. The amount of the awards varies according to the interest accrued from the Memorial Fund. Application can be found at www.csieducationfoundation.org.

  • INDOT Scholarship Program – Civil Engineering students accepted or currently enrolled in Engineering at an ABET accredited Indiana college or university may apply. Scholarship amounts are $3,125 per semester. Scholarships can be applied toward an undergraduate or graduate degree in Civil Engineering, or any combination thereof, not to exceed five years total with a maximum of two years toward a graduate program. In return, recipients will work at INDOT in full-time paid positions during their college summer breaks. After graduation, scholarship recipients will work six months at INDOT for each academic semester they received a scholarship.

    • Students must have completed their freshman year of college.
    • Students must possess and maintain a cumulative grade point average of 2.5 out of a scale of 4.0 or equivalent.

  • ISPE Scholarship – Indiana Society of Professional Engineers. – Applicants must be a resident of the State of Indiana and have completed at least one-half of the credit hours required for an ABET accredited undergraduate engineering degree.   • Jewish Federation of Metropolitan Chicago Educational Scholarship program – Scholarship funds available for college and graduate students who are identified as having promise for significant contributions in their chosen careers, and are in need of financial assistance for full-time academic programs primarily in the helping professions. Engineering is listed among the possible majors. Applicants must be Jewish and meet one or both of the following: Born and/or raised in either Cook County, Chicago metropolitan area, or Northwest Indiana OR one continuous year of full-time employment in Cook County or Chicago metropolitan area prior to starting professional education.   • KAPS – Capitol Chapter of the Kentucky Association of Professional Surveyors – Two scholarships of $500 each will be awarded. The scholarship is offered to students pursuing a degree in surveying, engineering, or other related curricula and is intended to promote education for existing or future land surveyors. The Chapter's policy is to give preference to KAPS members, immediate family of KAPS members, residents of the Chapter area, and residents of the Commonwealth of Kentucky.   • Linda Hurd Ewing Scholarship – Dean Ewing served the Purdue University community for 35 years. This scholarship is presented to students who best exemplify the characteristics and qualities that were precious to Dean Ewing. Two $1,000 scholarships will be awarded. Nominees must be an undergraduate student with a classification of no less than 3 and not a candidate for graduation, must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or greater, and have demonstrated leadership, integrity, and ability to communicate with all ages.   • Matthew Edward Kern Environmental Scholarship – TWO $5000 scholarships will be awarded to upper class and/or graduate student(s) in the Lyles School Civil Engineering with a focus on Environmental Engineering to help further his/her education because of their passion for the planet's well being.

  • Mortar Board Graduate School Fellowships – Mortar Board annually awards graduate fellowships to encourage Purdue students of high character and ability to pursue an advanced degree in graduate or professional studies.   • National Council of Structural Engineers Association (NCSEA) Scholarship - The NCSEA Foundation established the NCSEA Diversity in Structural Engineering Scholarship in 2020 to award funding to students who have been traditionally underrepresented in structural engineering (including but not limited to Black/African Americans, Native/Indigenous Americans, Hispanics/Latinos, and other people of color).   • National Corrugated Steel Pipe Assiciate (NCSPA) scholarships opportunties - ncspa.org/neri  Due at end of February Established in 1956, the NCSPA seeks to promote sound public policy relating to the use of corrugated steel drainage structures in private and public construction. We collect and distribute technical information; assist public and private agencies in the formulation of specifications and designs; encourage greater knowledge of corrugated steel pipe’s benefits and uses among college engineering students; and conduct seminars to increase awareness of the product and its application among specifiers. Overall, we serve as a valuable resource for engineers, educators, and students interested in learning more about the benefits and uses of corrugated steel pipes in civil and environmental engineering.

  • National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC) – Each year NAWIC awards over $25,000 to worthy recipients. Award amounts range from $500 to $2,500.   • National Hydropower Association's Past Presidents' Legacy Scholarship – NHA created the Past Presidents' Legacy Scholarship in 2008 to encourage students to consider becoming part of the U.S. hydropower industry. The growing industry has professionals in many different fields, including engineering. Applicants must be pursuing a program of study that is related to the hydropower industry: Engineering, sciences (biology, fisheries, and hydrology), communications, or environmental studies.   • New Hampshire Land Surveyors Foundation Scholarships – The NHLSA offers several scholarships for New Hampshire residents enrolled as a second, third, or fourth year student in a surveying, civil engineering or forestry curriculum and planning on a surveying career.   • Post-Tensioning Institute – The Post-Tensioning Institute (PTI) is pleased to announce two scholarship programs for senior and graduate engineering students. The William C. Bailey Memorial and the Edward K. Rice Scholarship Programs will provide a total of six scholarships in the amount of $2,500 each to deserving engineering students. To be eligible, students must be enrolled full-time in the US or Canada, with a minimum of 3 years of completed coursework with a 3.0 GPA. Study should be in the area of concrete structures with an emphasis on structural design, materials, construction, or any combination thereof with a clear focus on post-tensioning design and application.   • Purdue Class of 1937 Scholarships – A limited number of scholarships are available for the school year from funds donated by members of the Purdue Class of 1937 in support of current students. Criteria for determining recipients of this scholarship include leadership, financial need, character, and scholarship. To be eligible an applicant must: be enrolled at the West Lafayette campus, be registered for 12 credit hours or more; classified as a sophomore, junior or senior; have a cumulative grade index of 2.0 or higher, be in good academic and social standing with the University, show evidence of leadership ability and leadership potential; describe his/her financial need for the scholarship.   • Purdue Engineering Student Council Industrial Roundtable Scholarship – Scholarships of $500, $1000, $1500, and $2000 to engineering students of all disciplines and classifications. Scholarships are donated by companies supporting Purdue recruitment and the Industrial Roundtable job fair. Questions can be directed to the PESC office or emailed to pescir@purdue.edu. Scholarships are open to any engineering student with a semester classification of 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, or 7 during the spring semester. Applicants are judged based on their campus and community activities, work experience, written essay and grade point average.   • Purdue Robert Noyce Scholars Program – Scholarship program for all STEM majors in the Colleges of Science, Technology and Engineering who are committed to teaching their discipline at high schools in high-needs rural Indiana districts. Students with a 3.0 or better GPA should apply during their sophomore year to start in their junior year, continuing through the senior year. Recipients will receive 2 years of support at $15,000/year toward tuition, fees and room & board at Purdue. Program participants commit to 2 years of service in partnering high-needs rural schools for each year of scholarship support.   • Rotary International – Candidates who are articulate, outgoing and who can promote international goodwill and understanding through participation in Rotary activities abroad are being sought. Local competition is open to all students who are U.S. citizens. Student must have completed a minimum of two years of university course work. A strong academic record is required. Preference is given, but not restricted, to students who wish to study in a country whose language is other than English. Thus, a superior level of foreign language skills is required at the time of selection. The Rotary scholarships cover the cost of transportation, food, lodging, tuition books, educational supplies, and a limited amount of travel within the host country.   • Simpson Strong-Tie Company, Inc. – Simpson Strong-Tie Company, Inc. is proud to offer a scholarship program to assist architecture and structural engineering students at participating colleges and universities in the United States. Applicants to the Structural Engineering/Architecture Student Scholarship Program must be enrolled as juniors (60 semester hours or equivalent) or seniors in a full-time undergraduate course of study in architecture or structural engineering. Up to fifty $1,000 scholarships will be awarded each year. Awards are not renewable, but students may reapply to the program each year they meet eligibility requirements.   • Skidmore, Owings & Merrill Foundation, Structural Engineering Traveling Fellowship – Skidmore, Owings & Merrill (SOM) Foundation seeks faculty nominations for this fellowship which provides $10,000 for independent travel and study to recipients. A maximum of two nominees from the civil engineering department and two nominees from the architectural engineering department are allowed. The Foundation's goal is to instill in its fellows a better sense of the importance of aesthetics in structural design by offering the opportunity to study buildings and bridges around the world.   • SMART Scholarship for Service Program – The Science, Mathematics And Research for Transformation (SMART) Scholarship for Service Program has been established by the Department of Defense (DoD) to support undergraduate and graduate students pursuing degrees in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) disciplines. The program aims to increase the number of civilian scientists and engineers working at DoD laboratories. Three hundred students will have the chance to get a nearly full ride for their undergraduate or graduate education through SMART, sponsored by the United States Department of Defense. During school recipients will also have the opportunity to participate in summertime DoD internships, and, after graduation, they will be offered employment by the DoD to work in one of the agency's research facilities.
